Tana Toms jakt- og fisketurer

Two-day hiking trip by the Tanafjorden

Join Tom on a hike in the Tanafjord, and experience unique rock formations, motifs and landscapes.

Day 1:

Departure from the lake Searesgieddjávri which is about 2 km east of Torhop at 10.00. There are several paths and we choose the path to the left and you get straight up on the mountain where the peaks Stuorraoaivi (255 m) and Ippágirku/Kjerringvikfjellet (252 m) are. There will be lunch and a bonfire in the open air. We then go out to Gahpiras (approx. 180 m). Then we turn south and go to the accommodation located right down by the sea in Smalfjorden, where we can offer good local food (dinner), and a sauna for those who want it.
Walking time: around 4-5 hours.

Day 2:

Breakfast and departure around 1000.
We visit the actual Ippágirku or Jiehtanasgirku at Gálgugophi in Smalfjord, a huge rock that looks like a church from a distance. In 1893, it was stated that there was a stone ring around the large stone and that there were reindeer antlers. The stone block is about 10 meters high, it is also called Jiehtanasgirku, Jettekirka or Kjempekirka. In the stone there are holes and openings where reindeer antlers and beautiful small stones were placed. The mountain peak nearby is also named after the sacrificial stone. Lunch in the open air, and we follow the lower path back to the starting point via the village council hut at Bogijavri.
If the weather is perfect, we will go back by mountain route.
Walking time: 2.5-3 hours
