A peaceful walk to the calving area
Welcome to this unique adventure and to our calving reindeer herd here in Karasjok in Northern Norway. The trip to the calving area is a very special experience that few get the opportunity to experience. This trip is unique and the only one of its kind in Norway that we know of.
We will guide you through a fantastic landscape – a 30 minutes long walk to the reindeer calving area. This walk tunes you into a deep and peaceful mind, we will tell you all about the landscape, the area, snow and mountains around us.
When we arrive at the reindeer herd, you can sit on a reindeer skin outside, and relax and enjoy the moment fully, and after a while you can join us around the bonfire, where we will tell you everything we know about reindeer calving. We will serve you hot broth and fresh coffee, and you will even get to taste dried reindeer meat. During this adventure you will also get the opportunity to feed the reindeer.
By visiting us, you will get to see the reindeer herd close up, and if you are lucky, you might even see reindeer giving birth. You will learn alot about our traditions and our culture – and this sure is – a once in a lifetime experience.

This trip is suited for adults and children over 10 years
Included: Dried reindeer meat snack, hot broth; a traditinally sami beverage, mineral water, fresh coffee, binoculars for loan, outerwear as winter suit, shoes and mittens for loan by request
